Pushing our crafting skill and the capacity of our teak products always yields the most stunning results and it’s a thrill for us to work on a customer’s inlaid design requests. Our specialty is the compass rose, which we can design for central prominence or as accouterments for other art pieces. We’ve done a wide variety of maritime-themed designs; all made using the same teak wood.

Our teak tables allow us to use colored inlays from purple heart (burgundy) and/or dark walnut and maple bringing the inlaid art to life while preserving the table’s tone. All of our designs are plotted and outlined using digital drawing and machine-crafting, guaranteeing precision for every carved line.

We never use veneers for any design, all of our work is done with solid wood cuts. Cruising Concepts has produced several designs modeled from customer-provided templates as well as applying artistic interpretation to desired themes. Inlays can be added to any workable surface portion of the table including feet, the underside of table leaves, and even the sides of teak pedestals. Decades of experience have equipped us to know what dimensions can accommodate inlaid features and how an idea can best be laid out in a symmetrical way. We can make cuts down to 3/32″ bit size allowing for intricate, highly detailed patterns.

All of our inlaid work is done with specially ordered materials and designed, cut, and assembled in our shop. We work closely with the customer to ensure the design meets their exact standards and specifications. Inlaid designs can work with any shape of cockpit, dining, or yacht table; we’ll ensure that what the customer wants is what they get. Letters, numbers, and many complex shapes including compass roses, anchor ropes, and specific islands can all be added to the table surface and seamlessly worked in for a smooth edge.
